South on the old roads: Tartu, Otepää, Haanja
A long weekend, about 600 km. Day one to Otepää, day two back through Haanja and Võru.
- Distance. about 600 km (estimate)
- Road. the old Piibe road and the hills. Many blind bends, and timber trucks
- When to ride. a long weekend, with a night in Otepää

Day one: Tallinn — Jägala — Käravete — Järva-Jaani — Jõgeva — Tartu — Otepää. Day two: Otepää — Haanja — Võru — the Road Museum — Tartu — Tallinn.
Do not take highway 2 to Tartu. Take the historic Piibe road, the old way from Tallinn to Tartu. There are hills around Otepää, and the Otepää — Puka stretch is counted among the best in the country.
On the second day: Haanja, Suur Munamägi and the old Tartu — Võru post road, with the Estonian Road Museum at Varbuse. The asphalt is good, but there are many blind bends just over the crests. Locals sometimes cut the corners, and watch for timber trucks.
