A wet October road and the chain

October in Estonia means leaves and damp asphalt. A dirty chain eats sprockets faster than it does in summer. After the ride, let the chain dry, wipe the dirt, then lube it.

Check the slack in your own manual. A tight chain breaks things. A loose one jumps off, especially on a wet road.

If a link is seized, replace the chain and the sprockets together. Do not leave an old sprocket behind a new chain.
